CONCERT VENUES
Argentina Concert Tours has hand-picked some of Buenos Aires' most interesting venues for visiting choirs and instrumental ensembles to perform at. The following is a sampling of some of Buenos Aires’ finer venues:
This imposing neo-classical structure with numerous concrete columns greeting the visitor has a wonderful theater inside with seating for an audience of about 1200. Dark wood paneling gracing much of the wall space and a huge mural depicting a scene from colonial Argentina, all combine to give this venue a classically elegant feel. A regular series of concerts is performed here every Saturday night, often featuring some of Buenos Aires' most prestigious youth ensembles.
This landmark church, built in a classic Spanish Mission style, dates back nearly 300 hundred years and is located in one of Buenos Aires' most exclusive neighborhoods next to the fascinating Recoleta cemetery. Its interior is ornate in the typical fashion of churches built in that era. The church has a "house" choir that performs there regularly.
This fashionable building was constructed in the early 20th century as home to one of Buenos Aires' elite families. Resembling a Newport (Rhode Island) mansion in style and scale, it was built in the neoclassical style of the French Beaux Arts school of architecture. It features highly-ornamented masonry facades with balconies adorned by wrought-iron railings accessed through eight-foot tall French doors. Now a museum, the facility has one hall reserved for music performances. This venue is inspirational to artistic and creative endeavors alike.
This museum, one of Buenos Aires' most prominent institutions, is located in the beautiful Palermo Parks district of the city, situated amongst stately eucalyptus trees making for a relaxing setting. Surrounded by prized paintings, sculptures, and other works of art, the museum's auditorium is an inspiring venue for visiting ensembles.
This church, one of several serving Buenos Aires’ Anglo community, is also very welcoming to international performing groups. Its formal,
somewhat austere style lends a seriousness to musical works performed here. With a seating capacity of approximately 400, sizeable audiences can be accommodated.
Located in La Plata, the capital of Buenos Aires province, this city’s executive office building has an ornate salon, known as the “Salon Dorado”, which is ideal for choral performances. Seating some 200 people, this venue provides an intimate, elegant setting for performing classical music.
